The Results of virtual simulations in the operating room for 2nd - year nursing students

Abstract

     This research was quasi experiment research. The objectives are 1) to study the components of the virtual classroom in the operating room for nursing students, 2) to study the methods of organizing teaching in the virtual classroom in the operating room, and 3) to study the results of organizing teaching in the virtual classroom in the operating room by focusing on the users of the virtual classroom teaching method in the operating room between March and April 2023 at the operating room, Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. The participants were divided into 2 groups, 2 subgroups each, consisting of 1 nursing instructor, 1 operating room nurse, 1 anesthetist, and 2nd-year nursing students from the Faculty of Nursing, Asia Graduate School, 8 people per subgroup, totaling 4 groups. The questions during the group discussion Data were analyzed using content analysis.
     The results of the research found that students thought that there should be an operating room teaching arrangement, 100 percent. Item 1 Expectations before training It is expected that it will not affect the change at 87.5 percent and it is expected that it will affect the change at 12.5 percent. Item 2 Changes that occur compared to expectations at 100 percent and said that it exceeded expectations. Item 3 Components of the virtual classroom in the operating room consist of Set 1 for the operating room nurse: 1) wash basin, operating table, operating lamp 2) Sterile gown and gloves 3) Sterile cloth bundle and 4) Sterile Set. Set 2 for the anesthesiologist nurse consists of 1) Automatic vital signs monitor 2) Liquid and powdered drug mixing set 3) Canular oxygen set, Mask and T-piece 4) Saline infusion set With nursing records before, during and after surgery for both work groups Item 4 The teaching method is organized as a virtual classroom for students to practice on holidays until they understand before going to study the real work. Help reduce nervousness and mistakes by 100 percent. Item 5. Knowledge outcomes, NPO of patients and re-examination principles. Practical skills: Makes wearing gloves more fluently, holding forceps better, opening sterile packages correctly, inserting saline better, and injecting without shaking hands, etc.
