This action study aims to develop and evaluate a care model for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), incorporating family and community participation in Yangsisurat District, Mahasarakham Province. Research tools included focus group discussion guides, general information questionnaires, ADHD care assessment forms, ADHD behavior assessment forms, follow-up and medication side effects record forms, and satisfaction surveys. The study was conducted from October 2021 to September 2023, with data analyzed using descriptive statistics and content analysis.
The research findings revealed a practical and contextually aligned model for ADHD care, termed the 3C4R Model, which integrates family, teacher, and health network collaboration (Collaboration, C); capacity building for teachers and parents in behavior modification, supported by technology-based innovation (Competency, C); careful monitoring of medication side effects (Careful monitoring, C); ADHD screening by teachers, parents, and health teams (Realized screening, R); the establishment of a multidisciplinary care system within child mental health clinics (Readiness system, R); behavioral monitoring at home and school (Regulation, R); and a referral system for inter-hospital consultations (Referral system, R). The study showed that all parents and teachers received comprehensive training, achieving a 100% adherence rate in care practices among parents and health teams. Healthcare personnel provided complete coverage for ADHD care, resulting in improved behaviors among children with ADHD. Cases requiring urgent attention were referred appropriately, and no incidents of medication allergies or severe side effects were reported. Parents, teachers, and health teams expressed high satisfaction with the ADHD care system.
