NURSING CARE FOR PATIENTS UNDERGOING THYROID CARCINOMA SURGERY: 2 CASE STUDY

Abstract

     This study is a case study. have a purpose to study nursing care for patients undergoing thyroid cancer surgery. They selected patients undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer in the intensive care unit. Lopburi Cancer Hospital between October 2023 and September 2024, 2 cases.
     The results of the study found that patients who had undergone total thyroid cancer surgery (Total Thyroidectomy) in which the insertion possible problems that may occur after surgery include wound infection and vocal cord failure. It makes a sound that is almost choking. If the Parathyroid gland is cut, there will be a calcium deficiency low in blood or bleeding under the skin and swollen throat, which may cause obstruction of the respiratory system as a result, the patient is breathless, tired, and has abnormal breathing sounds (Stridor). The symptoms are closely monitored for postoperative complications. will make it possible to solve emergencies quickly reduces the occurrence of serious complications that may occur. Therefore, the important role of nurses caring for patients after surgery must be knowledgeable. Have understanding, skills, experience, comprehensively assess and predict risks that may occur. To keep patients safe, receive effective care.
