Model of developing the potential of village health volunteers to promote self-care behavior among patients with type 2 diabetes.

Abstract

     This study was participatory action research. The objectives are to study the understanding of village health volunteers in promoting self-care behaviors for type 2 diabetes patients and to study the model for developing the potential of village health volunteers in promoting self-care behaviors for type 2 diabetes patients. The study period was between November 2024 and December 2024, a total of 2 months. The sample consisted of 45 representatives of village health volunteers from Ban Dong Klang Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital, Dong Sombun Subdistrict, Tha Khantho District, Kalasin Province. Data were collected from questionnaires. Data were analyzed using content analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Dependent t-test.
     The results of the study found that the understanding of village health volunteers in promoting self-care behaviors of type 2 diabetes patients was found to be at a moderate level overall and in each aspect before the implementation, and at a high level after the implementation. The understanding of village health volunteers in promoting self-care behaviors of type 2 diabetes patients before and after the implementation was found to be statistically significantly different at the .05 level. After the implementation, the comparison of the understanding of village health volunteers in promoting self-care behaviors of type 2 diabetes patients had a higher mean score than before the implementation.
