Abstract

This research aims to develop an information system for monitoring near-expired drugs in the network of Mueang Kalasin District, Kalasin Province, to increase the efficiency of drug resource management, reduce losses from drug management near-expired drugs, and enhance patient safety in the health service system. Methodology: This research is a developmental research study (Research and Development) based on the 7 steps of the information system development lifecycle (SDLC), namely problem identification, feasibility study, analysis, design, development and testing, installation, and system maintenance. The tools used are questionnaires, data analysis tools, and Web Application development software. The informants are 80 staff members in the network. Results: The developed information system can accurately check and notify drug expiration, resulting in more efficient drug management. Users evaluated the efficiency of the information system for monitoring near-expired drugs as good (average 4.27 out of 5.00) and stated that the system can reduce the risk of using expired drugs and reduce drug resource losses by 566% compared to the previous fiscal year. Conclusion of the results: Development of an information system for monitoring near-expired drugs in the network of Mueang Kalasin District, Kalasin Province In website format, it is convenient and fast, can update information and process immediately, helps increase efficiency in monitoring drugs nearing expiration, reduces loss and risk in the health service network, and can be used as a prototype for developing systems in other areas. Additional suggestions are the development of a system for mobile platforms and organizing personnel training for sustainable use.
