The comparison of case studies of nursing care of colorectal cancer patients undergoing colostomy at Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, Department of Disease Control. aimed to examine the differences in nursing care for colorectal cancer patients who are undergoing colostomy and to promote self-care ability and family involvement in caring for patients with chronic diseases. The goal was to help patients achieve a good quality of life before their return home. This case study included two patients with co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and liver disease. The study focused on holistic patient care, addressing physical and mental health management as well as family support to enhance recovery and minimize postoperative complications.
Result the study found that postoperative nursing care that incorporates holistic care encompassing physical, mental, and family support effectively reduces the risk of complications. Providing guidance on self-care boosts confidence in both patients and their families. Encouraging family involvement in patient care contributes to improved mental recovery and overall quality of life. Family support plays a crucial role in helping patients adapt to their new circumstances and mitigate long-term negative effects.
