Model development of One day inguinal hernia surgery service model at Kuchinarai Crown Prince Hospital.

Abstract

    This quasi-experimental research aimed to study nursing care in providing inguinal hernia surgery services and to study the development model of nursing practice guidelines for providing one-day inguinal hernia surgery services at Somdech Phra Yuppharat Kuchinarai Hospital. The research period was between June 2024 and August 2024, a total of 3 months. The sample consisted of 145 patients who underwent one-day inguinal hernia surgery at Somdech Phra Yuppharat Kuchinarai Hospital. Data were collected from medical records and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using content analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Dependent t-test.
     The results of the study found that the results of the same-day inguinal hernia surgery service at Somdech Phra Yuppharat Kuchinarai Hospital found that there were a total of 145 patients scheduled for surgery in the same-day surgery program, 140 of whom, or 96.55 percent, showed up for surgery as scheduled. Five patients did not show up. The reason for not showing up for surgery as scheduled was that they were sick before the surgery day and needed to postpone the surgery for five patients. Four patients could not contact the patients by phone before the surgery. All four patients were able to contact the health center staff to visit them before the surgery. A comparison of the understanding of the service and preparation before the same-day inguinal hernia surgery service at Somdech Phra Yuppharat Kuchinarai Hospital before and after the surgery showed a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level. After the operation, the understanding of the service and preparation before the same-day inguinal hernia surgery service at Somdech Phra Yuppharat Kuchinarai Hospital was better than before the surgery.
