The evaluation of the operational performance of the waste bank fund at Ban Wang Yiam Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital, Nong Waeng Tai Subdistrict, Wanon Niwat District, Sakon Nakhon Province.

Abstract

     This study was survey research that collects both qualitative and quantitative data. The objectives are 1) To evaluate the performance of the Waste Bank Fund at Ban Wang Yiam Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital. 2) To study the problems, obstacles, and suggestions for the operation of the Waste Bank Fund at Ban Wang Yiam Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital. 3) To assess the satisfaction of members regarding the operation of the Waste Bank Fund at Ban Wang Yiam Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital. The key informants consisted of 17 individuals who provided data through open-ended questionnaires. The sample group included 225 members of the Waste Bank Fund at Ban Wang Yiam Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, with data collected through questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean, standard deviation, and content analysis for qualitative data.

     The results of the study revealed that the Waste Bank Fund at Ban Wang Yiam Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital had adequate readiness in terms of manpower and budget. The fund’s operational planning was effective in driving and developing the initiative. The Waste Bank Fund Committee shared a common goal of reducing waste in the community. The community recognized the importance of waste separation, and Waste Bank members accumulated savings in their accounts, with a funeral benefit of 13,000 baht per deceased member. Challenges in the operation included irregular waste collection schedules and lengthy processing times for selling waste on certain occasions. Overall, Waste Bank Fund members were highly satisfied with the fund's operations, with an overall satisfaction rating at the highest level (Mean = 4.74, S.D. = 0.51). The highest-rated aspect was knowledge of waste separation and waste reduction (Mean = 4.87, S.D. = 0.40), followed by income and returns (Mean = 4.71, S.D. = 0.47), publicity and participation (Mean = 4.69, S.D. = 0.47), and lastly, waste collection locations/services (Mean = 4.68, S.D. = 0.71).
