Abstract

This study was action research aimed to develop a care guideline for hearing-impaired individuals using hearing aids and to evaluate user satisfaction at Pak Chong Nana Hospital. This action research was conducted from February 1 to April 30, 2025, comprising two cycles following Kemmis and McTaggart's framework. Thirty participants were selected through purposive sampling. Research instruments were validated for content validity (CVI≥0.80) and reliability (α=0.87). Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including the Paired t-test and the McNemar test.

Results revealed that most participants were elderly, aged 60 years and above (76.67%). The developed care guideline encompassed assessment, education, skill training, manual development, and continuous follow-up. Following guideline implementation, hearing-impaired individuals demonstrated statistically significant improvements in all aspects of hearing aid usage and maintenance (p<0.001), with proper device operation, wearing position, and volume adjustment reaching 100% compliance. Mean satisfaction scores increased significantly from 3.53±0.03 to 4.49±0.02 (p<0.001), with highest satisfaction in hearing clarity (5.00±0.00) and conversation comprehension (4.93±0.25).
