Abstract

This study is a case study aiming to examine the nursing process and health outcomes of a patient with pulmonary tuberculosis complicated by pneumonia due to COVID-19 infection, who was admitted to Bang Phli Hospital on December 27, 2023. Data were collected from the medical records of Bang Phli Hospital, as well as from the patient and family members. The study involved problem analysis, nursing care planning, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluation of nursing outcomes based on Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns.

The results showed that the patient, a 76-year-old Thai female diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia along with pulmonary tuberculosis (NTM positive) and malnutrition upon admission, recovered well after receiving holistic care. After 98 days of follow-up, her weight increased from 42 kg (BMI 15.3 kg/m²) to 47 kg (BMI 17.26 kg/m²). Hypoxia and dyspnea improved, enabling her to perform daily activities. Chest X-ray findings showed improvement, and the 3-month AFB test turned negative. Her stress level (ST-5) decreased from 9 (high stress) to 5 (moderate stress). The patient was able to adhere to her medication regimen without missed doses.
