Nursing care of teenage pregnant women in the community : Two case studies.

Abstract

     This study was a case study aimed to study nursing care for pregnant adolescents in the community by comparing two case studies. It used Gordon's health model, concepts and theories related to maternal-infant nursing, community participation concept, home visiting, and INHOMESS as the framework for the study. The target group was pregnant adolescents receiving antenatal care at the Primary and Integrated Care Unit, Sam Sung Hospital, Khon Kaen Province. Data were collected from medical records, interviews with patients and relatives, along with observation, determination of nursing diagnoses, planning nursing interventions, and evaluation of nursing outcomes. Content data was analyzed by comparing two case studies.

     The study found that Case Study 1, 16 years old, mother G1P0A0L0, first antenatal care with husband, 11 weeks pregnant, currently living with husband's family, mother-in-law brought her for antenatal care. Doctor diagnosed G1P0A0L0, 11 weeks pregnant by date. 2 blood tests showed a tendency for blood concentration to decrease, almost reaching anemia. Found a urinary tract infection. Treated with Ferrous Fumarate, Amoxicilline (500). Suffered from stress and anxiety during pregnancy. Case Study 2, 16 years old, mother G1P0A0L0, first antenatal care with husband, 7+5 weeks pregnant. Currently living with husband's family, husband is the primary caregiver. First antenatal care with husband. Doctor diagnosed G1P0A0L0, 7+5 weeks pregnant by ultrasound. The first blood test result was abnormal, DCIP: Positive / MCV low. Sent for Hb typing, result suspected homozygous HbE or Beta-Thallasemia without α-Thal. Urine test result found urinary tract infection. Both women were treated with amoxicillin (500 mg) and had relatively high blood pressure (SBP) values ​​of 128-145 mmHg. Pregnancy was monitored for preeclampsia. Both women experienced stress and anxiety during pregnancy.
