Nursing Care for a Patient with Pneumonia with Sepsis and Urinary Tract Infection : A Case Study.

Abstract

     This study aimed to study nursing care for patients with pneumonia and bloodstream and urinary tract infections. Presents a case study of an 83-year-old Thai male patient who was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. He was diagnosed with pneumonia, sepsis, and a urinary tract infection (UTI). The patient had a medical history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and electrolyte imbalance.

     Result: Nursing care focused on improving pulmonary gas exchange, preventing septic shock, reducing fever, managing electrolyte imbalance, and providing psychological support to the patient and his family. Continuous assessment and holistic nursing care were provided throughout the treatment. Patient responded well to treatment—his breathing difficulty and fever subsided, and his blood and electrolyte levels returned to normal. He was hospitalized for five days before being discharged with a follow-up appointment.
