Nursing Care of a Pediatric Patient with Pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Failure : A Case Study.

Abstract

     This study was case study aimed to study the nursing care of pediatric patients with pneumonia and acute respiratory failure. The patient was a 1-year-old Thai male who was admitted to the hospital on May 4, 2025. Chief complaints included fever, cough, and shortness of breath one day prior to hospitalization.

     Results: During care, the patient exhibited oxygen deficiency and was treated with high-flow oxygen therapy, intravenous antibiotics, and fluids. Additionally, information was provided to the parents. The patient received oxygen therapy for 10 days, along with physical therapy, chest percussion, and suctioning to reduce infection. Oxygen delivery was later switched to a face mask. The patient’s relatives were educated and trained in proper caregiving techniques. The patient's condition gradually improved, and he was discharged on May 15, 2025, after a total of 11 days of hospitalization.
