STANDARD APPRAISAL OF TOILETS ASSESSMENT AND COLIFORM BACTERIAL CONTAMINATION TEST IN OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT SAKON NAKHON HOSPITAL

This research study was a cross-sectional descriptive research. The objectives were to standard
appraisal of toilets assessment and Coliform Bacterial Contamination test in out patient department
Sakon Nakhon Hospital. Sampling was conducted using Craigsie and Morgan ready-made tables. The
samples were 86 rooms and data were collected by 1) The Department of Health's public restroom
standard (HAS) assessment form and 2 ) Coliform bacteria wastested by using bacteria test kit(SI-
2).Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics: Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation
The results showed that toilets in the Out Patient Department at Sakon Nakhon Hospital
passed all 16 criteria of public toilets (HAS) 25.6%, Healthy 30.2%, Accessibility 90.7% and Safety
87.2% for coliform bacterial contamination, showed that coliform was contaminated 72.1% , The
most contaminated areas were the toilet floor at 51.2%, followed by the toilet seat at 29.1%, and
the waste water handle at 26.7%. So caregivers need to focus on cleaning points. Especially shot in
the toilet floor area. as well as providing adequate supplies and equipment for facilitating the toilet in
order to reduce contamination of germs and lead to good health of service recipients
