Developing a model for preventing and solving teenage pregnancy problems. Phra Narai School, Mueang District, Lopburi Province.

Abstract

      This study was Participatory Action Research (PAR). The objective is to develop a model for prevention and solution of teenage pregnancy problems at Phra Narai School, Mueang District, Lopburi Province. The study found that the causes and factors of teenage pregnancy problems and obstacles in implementing measures to prevent and solve teenage pregnancy problems at Phra Narai School, Mueang District, Lopburi Province. On the side of teenagers, there is premature sexual intercourse, lack of pregnancy prevention skills, failure of contraception, and lack of preparation for prevention. On the side of education (schools), there is no screening of at-risk groups. In the family, communication within the family is poor. Many parents feel ashamed or believe that sex should not be discussed. This causes teenagers to lack accurate information and receive incorrect information from friends or social media.

      The results of the development of a model for prevention and solution of teenage pregnancy problems at Phra Narai School, Mueang District, Lopburi Province, found that after developing the model for prevention of teenage pregnancy, It was found that students' knowledge and attitude scores increased significantly (p < .001). And after implementing the program and following up for 3 months, it was found that attitudes towards pregnancy prevention improved significantly (p < .001). Knowledge remained high but did not difference from the immediate post-treatment period (p = .083).
