Development of Nursing Practice Guidelines for Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients at Banpong Hospital

This research and development aimed to develop a of nursing practice guidelines foracute ischemic stroke patients at Banpong Hospital with nursing supervision. The research process consisted of three phases: 1) identifying challenges for care of acute ischemic stroke patients 2) guideline development; 3) guideline trials, and 4) evaluation and dissemination of the guideline. Partipants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, 10 nursing supervisors 10 and 71 nursing supervision working in the acute ischemic stroke patients care unit, and 210 acute ischemic stroke patients. The research instruments were: 1) a nursing practice guideline that was Developed, 2) a knowledge questionnaire, 3) practice to nursing practice guidelines, 4) the feasibility assessment form of the guidelines implementation and 5) satisfaction. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics Inferential statistics.
The results showed that the clinical nursing practice guideline (CNPG) included two main categories: 1) nursing care for the assessment complications of acute ischemic stroke and 2) nursing care for the prevention of complications of acute ischemic stroke. After implementing, it was found that: supervision and supervisees had knowledge nursing supervision and knowledge nursing for acute ischemic stroke was significantly higher than before using the program (p<.05) respectively, practice to supervision for CNPG, practice to CNPG, the feasibility assessment form of the guidelines implementation and satisfaction was high level of all.
