This survey research by retrospective analytical study aimed to investigate the factors associated with the decline of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m²) in diabetic patients at Sena Hospital, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Data were collected from the medical records of 1,852 patients who received services between October 2023 and September 2024. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and multiple logistic regression.
The results revealed that 28.9% of the samples had a decline in eGFR. Independent factors significantly associated with eGFR decline were age 65 years and over (aOR = 2.15), uncontrolled HbA1c (aOR = 1.85), duration of diabetes over 10 years (aOR = 1.60), and high triglyceride levels (aOR = 1.45) (p <0.05). In conclusion, proactive risk screening among older adults and strict glycemic and lipid control are crucial for delaying renal function decline in diabetic patients.
