The development of a fall prevention model for elderly by participation of community health networks partners in Isan Khet subdistrict, Chaloem Phra Kiat district, Buriram province

This action research aimed to study the development of a fall prevention model for elderly by participation of community health networks. The study applied the the action research framework of Kemmis and McTaggart’s. The samples consisted of 2 groups: 1) 30 samples from network participants selected by purposive sampling and 2) 135 elderly people selected by stratified random sampling. Quantitative data was collected by the questionnaire, fall risk assessment and focus group discussion guidelines. Data was collected between October 2025 to March 2026. Data analysis was performed by descriptive and comparative analysis was performed by paired t-test with a significance level of 0.05. Qualitative data using content analysis.
The research findings the showed the developed model comprised 6 components, namely the “6P Model” P1: People Partnership, P2: Problem Identification, P3: Prevention Program, P4: Physical Environment Modification, P5: Participation Process and P6: Performance & Evaluation. After implementation of the model resulted the overall level of knowledge and self-preventive behaviors showed a statistically significant improvement, as compared to before intervention (p-value<0.001). The fall risk assessment using the Thai-FRAT) showed a reduction in fall risk from 42.20% to 23.60%, while the (TUGT indicated a decrease in fall risk from 52.50% to 27.90%.
