Factors Associated with Hospital Readmission and Clinical Outcomes among Patients with Non-Communicable Diseases at Nabon Hospital, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

This survey research by retrospective study aimed to investigate the incidence and factors associated with 30-day unplanned hospital readmission and clinical outcomes among patients with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) at Nabon Hospital, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Data were collected from the medical records of 336 patients admitted between January and December 2024. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and multiple logistic regression.
The results revealed that 25.3% of the samples had an unplanned readmission. Independent factors significantly associated with readmission were having ≥ 3 comorbidities (aOR = 2.45; 95% CI: 1.39-4.32), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as the principal diagnosis (aOR = 4.31; 95% CI: 1.83-10.16), chronic kidney disease as the principal diagnosis (aOR = 5.28; 95% CI: 1.94-14.37), and history of hospital admission in the past year (aOR = 2.51; 95% CI: 1.44-4.37) (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the readmission group had a significantly higher proportion of severe clinical complications compared to the non-readmission group (p = 0.045).
