Prevalence and Factors Associated with Diabetic Retinopathy in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Undergoing Screening at Roi Et Hospital.

This survey research by retrospective study aimed to investigate the prevalence and factors associated with diabetic retinopathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Roi Et Hospital. Data were systematically collected from the medical records of 326 patients who underwent retinal screening between January and December 2025. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression.
The results revealed that the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy among the samples was 23.6 percent. Independent clinical factors significantly associated with an increased risk of diabetic retinopathy included a declined estimated glomerular filtration rate of less than 60 (aOR 2.19 95% CI 1.19 to 4.02). Conversely age of 60 years and over was significantly associated with a decreased risk (aOR 0.39 95% CI 0.21 to 0.73). In conclusion patients with renal impairment are at a high risk of developing diabetic retinopathy. Proactive screening and holistic monitoring systems should be prioritized for this specific high-risk group to prevent severe visual loss.
