Keywords:
Model Development, Awareness Enhancement, Consumption Behavior, Salt and Sodium IntakeAbstract
This study employed participatory action research with the objectives of examining the situation and problems of salt and sodium consumption among the population, developing a model, evaluating its effectiveness, and identifying key success factors. The study was conducted following the PAOR (Plan–Act–Observe–Reflect) cycle from October 2025 to March 2026. The target groups consisted of 79 core committee members and 344 residents aged 18 years and above. Research instruments included an awareness assessment, a behavior screening form, and focus group discussions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired sample t-test, and qualitative content analysis.
The results revealed that the developed model comprised five main activities: situation briefing, knowledge training, development of community leaders, community-based campaigns, and community empowerment. After implementation, participants demonstrated significantly improved knowledge, awareness, and behaviors related to salt and sodium consumption, as well as overall dietary behaviors (p < 0.05). Key success factors included stakeholder participation, support from health service units, the use of area-based data, and context-appropriate communication.
