Development of a Health Promotion Model for Older Adults through Community Participation in the Catchment Area of Ban Kan Lueang Health Promoting Hospital, Chum Saeng Subdistrict, Krasang District, Buriram Province

This action research aimed to explore the context, problems, and needs related to health promotion among older adults and to develop a health promotion model through community participation in the catchment area of Ban Kan Lueang Health Promoting Hospital, Chum Saeng Subdistrict, Krasang District, Buriram Province. The participants consisted of 40 older adults and 35 community stakeholders. The study was conducted from December 2025 to April 2026 using one cycle of the Kemmis and McTaggart action research process. Data were collected through questionnaires, focus group discussions, observations, and quality-of-life assessments. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test, while qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis.
The developed model comprised five components: context assessment and problem analysis, stakeholder participation, capacity building, health promotion activities, and monitoring with lesson learned. Stakeholder participation was at a high level (Mean = 4.29, S.D. = 0.54). The quality of life of older adults significantly improved after implementation of the model (p-value < 0.001).The findings indicate that community participation can effectively strengthen health promotion and improve the quality of life among older adults.
