Abstract

This study employed Quasi experimental Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial: CRCT and was conducted in Trang Province over a period of 16 weeks. The intervention group consisted of 159 Village Health Volunteers and 2,468 households, implementing larval source reduction activities every 4 days. The control group consisted of 104 Village Health Volunteers and 1,783 households, implementing the same activities every 7 days. Data were collected using questionnaires assessing knowledge, attitudes, and preventive practices, as well as dengue larval index survey forms. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.

The results revealed that the intervention group demonstrated significantly greater reductions in the House Index (HI), Container Index (CI), and Breteau Index (BI) compared with the control group (p < .05). Furthermore, the intervention group showed significantly higher post-intervention scores in knowledge, attitudes, and dengue preventive practices than both their baseline scores and those of the control group.

The findings indicate that dengue larval source reduction activities conducted every 4 days are more effective in reducing larval density and promoting dengue prevention behaviors than activities conducted every 7 days.
