Development of the NANGOI Fall Prevention Model to Prevent Falls among Older Adults through Community Participation in Ban Nangoi, Tao Ngoi Subdistrict, Sakon Nakhon Province, Thailand.

This study aimed to develop and evaluate the NANGOI Fall Prevention Model for preventing falls among older adults in the community. Methods: This action research was conducted through two cycles of Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection (PAOR) from December 2025 to May 2026. The participants comprised 50 older adults at risk of falling, selected through purposive sampling, while 14 village health volunteers participated in the implementation. The model was implemented over a 12-week period. The research instruments included a fall-prevention knowledge questionnaire, a fall-prevention behavior questionnaire, the Thai Falls Risk Assessment (Thai-FRAT), the Timed Up and Go Test (TUG), the 30-Second Chair Stand Test, a program implementation monitoring form, and a satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests.
Results: The NANGOI Fall Prevention Model consisted of six components: N–Network Partnership, A–Assessment, N–Need and Knowledge, G–Group Exercise, O–Ongoing Home Exercise, and I–Implementation, Evaluation and Follow-up. After the 12-week implementation, the mean fall-prevention knowledge score increased from 12.80 ± 2.40 to 18.90 ± 1.80, and the mean fall-prevention behavior score increased from 33.70 ± 5.20 to 44.80 ± 4.10. The mean Thai Falls Risk Assessment (Thai-FRAT) score decreased from 8.40 ± 2.10 to 4.90 ± 1.80, while the mean Timed Up and Go Test (TUG) time decreased from 12.80 ± 2.60 to 10.90 ± 1.80 seconds. The mean number of repetitions in the 30-Second Chair Stand Test increased from 10.30 ± 2.40 to 13.90 ± 2.60. All five outcomes improved significantly (p < 0.001). No falls occurred during the 12-week follow-up period, and the overall satisfaction score was at the highest level (4.80 ± 0.29).
