The Effects of a Family Participation-Based Self-Care Promotion Program on Knowledge and Care Behaviors Among Gynecologic Cancer Patients Receiving Chemotherapy and Their Primary Caregivers. This quasi-experimental study employed a two-group pretest–posttest design to examine the effects of a family participation-based self-care promotion program on knowledge and care behaviors among gynecologic cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and their primary caregivers. The study also aimed to compare the post-intervention knowledge and care behavior scores of patients and primary caregivers between the experimental and control groups. The sample consisted of 60 pairs of gynecologic cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and their primary caregivers who attended the Gynecologic Oncology Clinic at Nong Khai Hospital. The participants were selected according to the predetermined eligibility criteria and allocated into an experimental group of 30 pairs and a control group of 30 pairs. The experimental group received a family participation-based self-care promotion program comprising four activities: (1) enhancing knowledge of gynecologic cancer and chemotherapy; (2) developing self-care and patient care skills; (3) promoting family participation in care; and (4) providing continuous follow-up and support. The control group received usual nursing care. The research instruments consisted of the family participation-based self-care promotion program, a general information questionnaire, a patient knowledge assessment, a patient self-care behavior assessment, a primary caregiver knowledge assessment, and a primary caregiver patient-care behavior assessment. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test, independent-samples t-test, and paired-samples t-test. The level of statistical significance was set at 0.05. The results revealed that, following the intervention, patients in the experimental group had significantly higher knowledge scores regarding their disease and significantly higher self-care behavior scores than those in the control group (p < 0.001). Similarly, primary caregivers in the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher knowledge scores regarding patient care and significantly higher patient-care behavior scores than those in the control group (p < 0.001).
