THE ROLE OF VILLAGE HEALTH VOLUNTEERS IN THE PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF CHOLANGIOCARCINOMA CANCER AT MOOMON SUB – DISTRICT MUANG DISTRICT UDONTHANI PROVINCE

This cross – sectional survey research had an objective to study the role of village
health volunteers in the prevention and control of cholangiocarcinoma cancer and the
factors that associated with the role. The sampling group of this study comprised totally 162
village health volunteers of Moomon Sub – district, Muang District, Udonthani Province.
These samples were selected by using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through self – administered questionnaires during the 5th - the 19th September
2018. The data were then analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard
deviation, Chi – square analysis, and Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient
statistics. The results of the study showed that the role of village health volunteers in the
prevention and control of cholangiocarcinoma cancer was indicated firstly at a high level
accounted for 60.5%; followed by a moderate level accounted for 31.5%; and lastly at a low
level accounted for 8.0% respectively. Regarding the factors that associated with the role of
village health volunteers, they were statistically significant (p-value < 0.05 ) including the
perception of the policy on the prevention and control of cholangiocarcinoma cancer and
the knowledge of cholangiocarcinoma cancer.
The results of this study suggested that the agencies responsible in the area should
strengthen the role of village health volunteers in the prevention and control of
cholangiocarcinoma cancer by raising awareness of the policy on the prevention and control
of cholangiocarcinoma cancer and the knowledge of cholangiocarcinoma cancer, which
could be the guidelines for the prevention and control of cholangiocarcinoma cancer for the
risk people inthe areas of responsibility.
