Abstract

This study aimed to study the nursing care of pediatric patient with cleft palate who received general anesthesia and had malignant hyperthermia.

        Case study: A pediatric patient with cleft palate, aged 1 year 6 months, received general anesthesia and was admitted to King Narai Maharaj Hospital on 14 November 2021 with congenital cleft palate symptoms. Doctor scheduled surgery. Before anesthesia, medical team provided nursing care to reduce anxiety and provided knowledge before and after surgery of cleft palate. During anesthesia, the patient had an allergic reaction to the anesthetic gases, malignant hyperthermia, and hypercapnia. The patient was treated with Dantrolene muscle relaxant. The patient received further care at the intensive care unit until it is safe and then patient was discharged on 14 November 2021.
