Development care model for HIV/AIDS patient with antiretroviral therapy at Ragsugkapap clinic in Nakae Hospital, Nakhon Panom province

Abstract

     This action research aimed to develop and study the outcomes of utilizing the care model for HIV/AIDS patient with antiretroviral therapy (ART) at Ragsugkapap clinic in Nakae Hospital, Nakhon Panom province. Thirty HIV/AIDS patients with ART were included into the study. Data was conducted three months. Research instruments comprised the personal characteristic, the general health assessment, the knowledge of AIDS questionnaire, the knowledge of antiretroviral drug use questionnaire, the ART adherence questionnaire, and the satisfaction questionnaire.

     The research results revealed that most of the participants was male, the time from HIV infection to diagnosis was from one year to fifteen years, the knowledge of antiretroviral drug use was significantly increased, the mean of ART adherence was significantly increased from 91.6% (S.D. = 2.5 ) to 98.9% ( S.D. = 1.2 ), health indexes; BMI was significantly increased from 20.8 kg/m2 ( S.D. = 2.6 ) to 21.2 kg/m2 (S.D. = 2.4 ), CD4 Lymphocyte was significantly increased from 396.5 cell/mm3 (S.D. = 203.2) to 500.9 cell/mm3 (S.D. = 190.0 ) (p < 0.05). Moreover, participants were satisfied with the care model.
