Factors Associated with Health Behaviors of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Banpakphu Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Tha Na Subdistrict, Kapong District, Phang Nga Province.

Abstract

          This descriptive research aimed to study factors related to the health behaviors of type 2 diabetes patients in the Ban Pak Phu Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital area. The population consisted of diabetic patients registered in the household registration in Kapong District, Tha Na Sub-district, Phang Nga Province, in 2025, who had resided in the area for at least six months. The sample size was 114 individuals, obtained through systematic sampling. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire consisting of three parts: personal characteristics, health literacy, and health behaviors. The questionnaire was validated through content validity and reliability testing. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Content validity was tested by three experts, and reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, which was 0.867. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to analyze the data at a statistical significance level of 0.05. The results of the data analysis showed that... Health literacy scores were at a moderate level (56.14%) (X̅=2.15, S.D.=0.66). Health behaviors of type 2 diabetes patients also had moderate scores (48.25%) (X̅=2.20, S.D.=0.62), respectively. Correlation analysis revealed that a statistically significant (p < 0.05) factor positively correlated with health behaviors of type 2 diabetes patients in the Ban Pak Phu Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital area was communication for increased expertise (r=0.215, P-value=0.011).
