Abstract

Abstract

This descriptive research aimed to study the association between health literacy, social support, and health behaviors among patients with hypertension. The population consisted of 540 patients diagnosed with hypertension, receiving treatment according to a treatment plan, registered in the household registry, and residing in the area for at least six months in Muang Tia Subdistrict, Mae Lan District, Pattani Province. A systematic sampling method was used to obtain a sample size of 247 individuals. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire consisting of four parts: personal attributes, health literacy, social support, and health behaviors. The questionnaire underwent content validity testing by three experts and was pilot-tested for reliability using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, which was found to be 0.867. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficients. The research findings showed that Health literacy scores among hypertensive patients were high (93.33%) ( 2.94, S.D.=0.239) Social support scores were also high (98.88%) ( =2.90, S.D.=0.302) Health behavior scores were high (88.88%) ( =2.88, S.D.=0.323) Correlation analysis revealed that health literacy was significantly correlated with health behavior among hypertensive patients in Muang Tia Subdistrict, Mae Lan District, Pattani Province (r=0.434, P-value<0.001) Social support was also significantly correlated with health behavior among hypertensive patients in Muang Tia Subdistrict, Mae Lan District, Pattani Province (r=0.503, P-value<0.001)
