Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
The journal is committed to protecting the personal data of authors, reviewers, editors, website users, and other relevant individuals. The journal collects, uses, discloses, and retains personal data only to the extent necessary for its operations, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) and other applicable laws.
- Data Controller
The journal is operated by the Network of Sport Science Programs, Rajabhat Universities of Thailand. The responsible Editor acts as the data controller for the journal’s operations and assigns the Editorial Board and the journal’s data protection working group to manage personal data, maintain data security, establish and review access rights, coordinate the exercise of data subject rights, and respond to personal data breaches in accordance with their assigned duties. The data controller may be contacted through the name, address, email address, and telephone number provided on the “Contact Us” page of the journal’s website. If the responsible Editor changes, the journal will publish the updated identity and contact details of the data controller and arrange for the systematic transfer of data, responsibilities, access rights, and data protection measures. Such change does not affect any duties or liabilities of any person arising under applicable law before the date on which the change takes effect.
- Personal Data Collected
The journal may collect personal data necessary for its operations, including names, surnames, institutional affiliations, academic positions, contact information, user account information, ORCID iDs, educational backgrounds and areas of expertise, manuscripts and supporting documents, review reports, revision and communication histories, complaints and appeals, fee information and proof of payment, as well as IP addresses, cookies, and technical information automatically recorded by the ThaiJO system or the journal’s website. Such data may be obtained directly from data subjects, corresponding authors, persons authorized by data subjects, the ThaiJO system, academic databases, or reliable publicly available sources. When a corresponding author or user provides the system with personal data concerning co-authors, research assistants, coordinators, or other individuals, the person providing the data must have an appropriate right or legal basis to do so and should inform those individuals of this Privacy Policy.
- Purposes and Legal Bases for Processing
The journal processes personal data for user registration and account administration; manuscript submission, screening, review, revision, and editorial decision-making; communication with relevant parties; the selection and invitation of reviewers; publication ethics, originality, and content-similarity checks; investigations of alleged misconduct; fee collection and verification; article publication; DOI registration; the preparation of bibliographic and indexing information; the handling of complaints, appeals, article corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions; preservation of the scholarly record; prevention of system misuse; and system security. Processing is based, as appropriate, on steps taken at the request of a data subject before entering into an agreement or the performance of an agreement, compliance with legal obligations, performance of a task carried out in the public interest, legitimate interests, or consent, with due regard for the rights and freedoms of data subjects. If a data subject does not provide necessary information, the journal may be unable to create a user account, accept or review a manuscript, process a payment, publish an article, or provide related services.
- Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Data
The journal does not sell, exchange, rent, or use personal data for marketing purposes unrelated to its operations. Personal data are disclosed only as necessary to the Editorial Board, reviewers, ThaiJO system administrators, technology service providers, DOI registration agencies, repositories, indexing databases, providers of similarity-checking, article production, and publishing services, advisers or experts involved in investigating complaints or misconduct, and courts, officials, regulatory bodies, or other authorities empowered by law. Authors’ names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, academic information, and contribution information may be published as part of the article and the scholarly record. Reviewer identities are kept confidential in accordance with the journal’s Peer Review Policy unless disclosure is required by law or the reviewer has expressly consented to disclosure. DOI registration, indexing, the use of ORCID services, online publication, and the use of systems or service providers located outside Thailand may involve the transfer, storage, or access of certain personal data outside Thailand. The journal will undertake such processing only as necessary and will apply data protection safeguards in accordance with applicable law.
- Data Retention and Security
The journal retains personal data for as long as necessary for manuscript processing; retrospective investigations of ethics concerns, complaints, or misconduct; accounting and payment records; the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims; preservation of the scholarly record; and compliance with applicable laws. Retention periods are determined according to the nature of the data, the purposes of processing, the period required for retrospective verification, applicable limitation periods, and periods prescribed by law or competent authorities. The journal will establish and periodically review internal procedures governing retention periods, access rights, data backups, deletion or destruction of data, and the transfer of data when responsible personnel change. The journal implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss, unauthorized access, use, alteration, modification, or disclosure. When personal data are no longer required, the journal will delete, destroy, or anonymize them. Published articles, bibliographic information, DOIs, correction notices, expressions of concern, retraction notices, and records necessary to preserve the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record may, however, be retained on a long-term basis. If a personal data breach occurs, the journal will investigate, contain, and remedy the incident; assess the risks; document the incident; and notify the competent authority or affected data subjects as required by law.
- Rights of Data Subjects
Subject to the conditions and exceptions provided by applicable law, data subjects have the right to request access to or a copy of their personal data; request that their data be corrected so that they are accurate, current, and not misleading; request the deletion, destruction, or anonymization of their data; request restriction of or object to processing; receive or transfer their data; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with the competent authority. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn. The exercise of certain rights may be restricted when the data remain necessary for manuscript processing, reviewer confidentiality, the investigation of complaints or misconduct, preservation of the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record, compliance with legal obligations, or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

The journal may request additional information only to the extent necessary to verify identity, prevent disclosure to unauthorized persons, and properly respond to the request.
