Abstract

The purpose of the study was to study the effects of nine-square training on reaction time in elderly people in Senaniwet Community 1. The participants consisted of 40 elderly people in Senaniwet Community 1. They were divided into two groups by alternating based on average reaction times of correct responses in choice reaction time and random assignments. They were an experimental group (n = 20) and a control group (n = 20). An experimental group conducted nine square training sessions for six weeks, two days a week, while participants in the control group continued with normal activities. The data about reaction time test was collected before and after training week 6. The data were analyzed by a dependent sample t-test and an independent sample t-test.

The results of the research found that in the experimental group, the average reaction times of correct responses and accuracy of responses in simple reaction time and choice reaction time before and after week 6 of the 9-squares training were significantly different. In the control group, no differences were found. In addition, it was found that the average reaction times of correct responses and accuracy of responses in simple reaction time and the average reaction times of correct responses in choice reaction time after week 6 of the 9-squares training showed a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and control group. As for the accuracy of responses in choice reaction time was no difference between the experimental group and the control group.
