Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study and compare the effect of ladder training on agility and speed in male volleyball players, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University. The sample was 12 male volleyball players studying at Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University, aged between 18 - 22 years old. They were selected by purposive sampling. The research tool was speed ladder training program. The duration of program was 4 weeks which were 3 days; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 30 minutes a day during 6.00 - 6.30 PM. Collecting data on agility and speed before and after the 4th week of training. data were analysed by using mean, standard deviation, and dependent t-test. The statistical significance was determined at a .05 level.


     The results showed that 1) The mean score of agility before training was 14.52 s, the standard deviation was 0.95. The mean score of agility after training was 13.89 s, the standard deviation was 0.65. The mean score of speed before training was 4.07 s and the standard deviation was 0.57. The mean score of speed after training was 3.49 s, and the standard deviation was 0.43. 2) After the 4th week of training, agility and speed were more averages than before training statistically significant at the .05 level. In conclusion, ladder training can develop agility and speed male volleyball players, Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University, so it can be applied to all types of sports to achieve the highest ability to compete in sports to excellence.
