Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study and compare the effects of supplementary training with a flexibility and muscle strength training program upon the football throwing of the Sisaket Rajabhat University football team. Thirty football players of the Sisaket Rajabhat University team were purposively selected to be the subjects in this study. There are 5 people aged 18 years, 7 people aged 19 years, 9 people aged 20 years, 7 people aged 21 years, and 2 people aged 22 years. They were divided into two groups; each group had fifteen football players. The research instruments consisted of 7 flexibility training programs. 7 muscle strength training programs and 2 football throwing exercises. In addition to the regular training program, the experimental group had to undergo the course of flexibility and muscle strength training supplementary program for three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), while the control group only had their regular training program. The total duration of the training was eight weeks. The data of football throwing in both groups were taken before the experiment and after 4 and 8 weeks. The obtained data were analyzed in terms of mean, standard deviation, one-way analysis of variance with repeated measures, and multiple comparison by LSD and also employed for statistical significance at the .05 level. Research results indicated that:

             1) After 4 weeks and 8 weeks of training, football throwing ability in the experimental group was significantly better than before the experiment at the .05 level.

             2) After 4 weeks and 8 weeks of training, football throwing ability in the experimental group was significantly better than the control group at the .05 level.

Conclusion: The findings of this study indicated that supplementary training incorporating flexibility and muscle strength training programs had a significant effect on the football throwing performance of male football players from Sisaket Rajabhat University.
