MOTIVATIONS FOR PURSUING THE BACHELOR OF EDUCATION PROGRAM IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION AT RAJABHAT MAHA SARAKHAM UNIVERSITY

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to: (1) analyze the personal background characteristics of students who responded to the motivation questionnaire for pursuing the Bachelor of Education Program in Physical Education at Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University, and (2) examine the students’ level of motivation for pursuing their studies in the program. The sample consisted of 93 first-year undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education Program in Physical Education at Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University in the 2025 academic year, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a motivation questionnaire for pursuing the Bachelor of Education Program in Physical Education, which comprised three sections: personal background information, motivation for pursuing the study classified into eight dimensions, and additional suggestions. The statistics used in analyzing the collected data were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results indicated that the overall level of motivation for pursuing the Bachelor of Education Program in Physical Education was high (M = 4.34, SD = 0.55). When examined by dimension, interest and personal reasons yielded the highest mean score at the highest level, followed respectively by curriculum-related factors, social factors, career prospects, institutional quality, economic considerations, influential persons, and information and publicity.
The findings indicate that intrinsic motivation, particularly interest and personal reasons, is a key factor influencing students’ decisions to pursue the Bachelor of Education Program in Physical Education at Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University. The results of this study can serve as guidelines for curriculum development, instructional management, educational guidance, and strategic student recruitment planning in alignment with learners’ needs and motivations in the future.
