Abstract

     Patient with heart failure need continuous care in order to prevent exacerbation and various complication when discharging home. Appropriate knowledge given will help decrease complications and re-admission to the hospital. Self-care should be emphasized and promote self-care ability for proper behavioral adaptation. Orem s self-care theory has been wided used in the nursing profession and this theory has been applied to nursing practice. Orem s self-care theory is composed of three involved theories including self-care theory(the explanation of self-care ability and self-care demand) , self-care deficit (the explanation of imbalance of person s ability and the need of self-care which needs help for nursing ) and the theory of nursing system (the explanation of help for a person to be able to continuously self-care in order to maintain life, health, and well being in each person) self-care f0r patients with heart failure is also essential health problem impacting on patients quality of life. So nurses role, thus, are important in caring patients with heart failure, specific to health promotion for health care ability. Additional to knowledge given, advice, counseling, inspiring, and co - ordinating for patient who have been already diagnosed with heart failure is crucial for nurses to promote participation for effective treatment and self-care.
