บทบาทพยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติฉุกเฉินกับภาวะช็อกจากการเสียเลือดจากการบาดเจ็บ: ความท้าทายในการป้องกันและการดูแลผู้ป่วยบาดเจ็บก่อนถึงโรงพยาบาล

การบาดเจ็บที่เกิดขึ้นจากการเกิดอุบัติเหตุจราจรเป็นการบาดเจ็บที่พบมากที่สุด หากการบาดเจ็บนั้นเป็นการบาดเจ็บที่รุนแรงและส่งผลต่ออวัยวะที่สำคัญ และผู้ป่วยไม่ได้รับการช่วยเหลือที่ถูกต้องในระยะก่อนส่งโรงพยาบาล อาจทำให้ผู้ป่วยเสียชีวิตในช่วงระหว่างนำส่งโรงพยาบาลได้
การดูแลผู้บาดเจ็บในระยะก่อนถึงโรงพยาบาลมีความสำคัญอย่างยิ่ง การบริหารจัดการโดยระบบบริการการแพทย์ฉุกเฉินมีเป้าหมายหลักคือ ลดอัตราการเสียชีวิตและความพิการที่ป้องกันได้ ทำให้ลดค่าใช้จ่ายที่เกิดจากการรักษาพยาบาล ลดการเคลื่อนย้ายผู้บาดเจ็บที่ไม่ถูกต้อง และลดการนำส่งสถานพยาบาลที่ไม่เหมาะสม โดยพยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติฉุกเฉินที่ออกปฏิบัติการในระดับการช่วยชีวิตขั้นสูง จะมีความสามารถในการดูแลผู้บาดเจ็บขั้นสูงได้ การมีสมรรถนะและทักษะสูงทางคลินิก ตั้งแต่การประเมินความรุนแรงของภาวะช็อกจากการเสียเลือดเบื้องต้น การค้นหาภาวะคุกคามชีวิต การระบุการบาดเจ็บ การรวบรวมข้อมูลได้ครบถ้วน ครอบคลุม นำไปสู่การจัดการในการรักษาพยาบาลผู้บาดเจ็บถูกต้อง เหมาะสม ทันเวลาและรวดเร็ว ทั้งในระยะก่อนถึงโรงพยาบาล และระหว่างส่งผู้บาดเจ็บไปโรงพยาบาล รวมทั้งสามารถประสานงานกับทีมบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ฉุกเฉิน ช่วยให้ผู้บาดเจ็บได้รับความช่วยเหลือและดูแลรักษาได้อย่างทันท่วงทีเมื่อไปถึงโรงพยาบาล จะทำให้ผู้บาดเจ็บปลอดภัย ลดอัตราการเสียชีวิตและความพิการแก่ผู้บาดเจ็บ ลดการสูญเสียบุคคลในครอบครัว เป็นการลดการสูญเสียทรัพยากรมนุษย์ในการพัฒนาสังคม เศรษฐกิจของประเทศได้อีกด้วย
