THE EFFECTS OF CIRCUIT TRAINING ON PHYSICAL FITNESS IN NORMAL-WEIGHT AND OVERWEIGHT MALES

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare the effects of circuit training on the physical fitness of normal-weight and overweight males. The participants consisted of 60 males aged 20–25 years, who were divided into three groups: a normal-weight experimental group, an overweight experimental group, and a control group. The experimental groups participated in a circuit training program three times per week for eight weeks, with ten exercise stations per session. Physical fitness was assessed before and after the training period. Within-group differences between pre-test and post-test measurements were analyzed using paired-samples t-tests, while between-group differences were examined using one-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) followed by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) post hoc test. The results indicated that both experimental groups showed significant improvements in all physical fitness variables (p < .05), whereas no significant changes were observed in the control group. Comparisons among groups revealed that the experimental groups demonstrated significantly better physical fitness outcomes than the control group. Large effect sizes were observed, with the 3 Minute High Knee Test (η² = .774) and Sit-Up Test (η² = .635)
