The Effectiveness of Using the Referral Assessment Form for Emergency Medical Cases in the Phuket Referral System

Abstract

Background: A Referral Assessment Form for emergency medical cases is crucial for ensuring timely and accurate communication between healthcare providers when transferring critically ill patients. It helps in documenting the patient's condition, medical history, and urgent interventions, ensuring continuity of care and reducing delays in treatment at the receiving facility.

Objectives: The effectiveness of using the emergency assessment form for the Phuket province referral system. The emergency referral system is an important process for keeping the patient alive. Then the emergency referral assessment form can reduce the complicated referral operation. This research has an objective for studying the effectiveness of using this form during the referral period by comparing before and after.

Methodology: The sample group has (1) The emergency referral form 1,200 copies which included before and after developing the form were selected to use and recorded by the paramedic nurses along the medical transportation from Patong Hospital and Chalong Hospital and were treated at the Emergency room of Vachira Phuket Hospital only. (2) The paramedic nurses of 60 persons whom research participants selected by the regulation. They are the paramedic nurses working at Patong Hospital, Thalang hospital, and Chalong Hospital. With experience since 1 year up. They agree and cooperation for this research. Research Equipment (1) the quality evaluation form for the emergency referral system of 5 sides. (2) the satisfaction evaluation in using the emergency assessment form during the medical transportation. The research equipment was accurate by 3 professional supervisors. The analyzation procedure by frequency distribution percentage, mean scale, standard deviation, and comparison of the quality of referral operation which occurs before and after development. Use the statistic to explain of percentage and test record chi-square by indicating the meaning score at level 0.05. And (3) The satisfaction of the paramedic nurses in using the nursing record during patient transfer after the development. Use the statistic explain, percentage, mean score, and standard deviation.

Results: 1) The standard of nursing care during medical transportation for five sides, including respiratory system and respiratory care. Bone stability, intravenous infusion, and bleeding control are all elevated as significant statistics at 0.5, which is an outstanding level.  (2) The average satisfaction rating among nurses who possess and utilize the emergency assessment form is outstanding. Finally, the emergency assessment form's efficacy will ultimately lead to further expansion of the Phuket province referral system.

Conclusion: The study emphasizes how important standardized nursing care is for maintaining stability in vital areas such as IV infusion, respiratory care, bone support, and bleeding management during medical transportation. The emergency assessment form's strong effectiveness and satisfaction rate highlight its potential to improve patient outcomes and emergency response by strengthening the Phuket province referral system.
