Abstract
ABSTRACT
Problems of stigma and discrimination against patients infected with HIV or AIDS Affects receiving unfair services. This cross-sectional descriptive study aimed to survey the situation of stigma and discrimination against people with HIV and AIDS in health care facilities at Charoen Sin District Hospital, Sakon Nakhon Province The sample group consisted of 154 service providers in health care facilities that were obtained through systematic random sampling. The tools used to collect data consisted of 1) a questionnaire on attitudes towards providing services to people living with HIV and AIDS, 2) an interview form with opinions on the treatment of people living with HIV and AIDS. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and content analyze.
The results found that the sample group had a high level of anxiety when drawing blood for HIV or AIDS patients (Mean = 49.35), and a moderate level of anxiety dressing wounds (Mean = 48.05) and anxiety about touching the body, clothes, bed, or appliances (Mean = 63.64) and feel uncomfortable every time having to provide services. Because it is believed that the risk of infection is greater, and had the lowest level of unwillingness to provide services (Mean = 79.87)
It can be seen that most of the sample group has the same concept of treating AIDS patients, that is, they are afraid of contracting HIV from providing health services. including touching the body or things of an AIDS patient, dressing wounds, and drawing blood, etc In addition, the sample group also recommended that there be a One Stop Service system as a standard for health service facilities to provide services to this group of patients.
