Abstract

          This action research aimed to develop a screening model for dengue fever patients in the primary care network, in Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province. The study was conducted between November 2023 and June 2024. The sample group consisted of 40 professional nurses working in outpatients, emergency and forensic work, community health centers, and sub-district health promotion hospitals, selected through specific selection. The instruments used were questionnaires on the following aspects: 1) knowledge and understanding of patient screening, 2) attitudes and opinions towards the screening model, and 3) satisfaction with using the dengue fever screening model. The quality of the instruments was examined using the Kuder– Richardson (KR-20) method, with a reliability of 0.81 and a Cornbrash alpha coefficient of 0.80 and 0.83, respectively. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics and Paired Samples T-test statistics.

        The study results found that the dengue fever screening model consisted of 3 parts:                     1) Guidelines for triage of patients at the outpatient department (OPD triage) in cases where patients present with acute fever, probable dengue, or patients suspected of having dengue fever, 2) Guidelines for screening patients suspected of having dengue fever in sub-district health-promoting hospitals (sub-district health-promoting hospitals), and 3) Guidelines for restoring data to monitor disease outbreaks in the area. The results of the application of the model found that the sample group was very satisfied and most agreed with having clear working guidelines, easy-to-understand communication, and being able to put it into practice. The assessment of knowledge and understanding of screening before and after found statistically significant differences (p-value <0.001), etc.
