Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of implementing the primary nursing system in the inpatient department of Fak Tha Hospital. The study population consisted of 9 professional nurses and 30 patients. The research instruments included a primary nursing system manual, a training plan for the primary nursing system, and satisfaction questionnaires for service recipients and professional nurses. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-group t-test, and paired t-test.

The results showed that after the implementation of the primary nursing system, the overall satisfaction level of service recipients was at the highest level (mean = 4.30), with all aspects including care techniques, technical care quality, service readiness, physical environment, continuous care, and effectiveness/outcomes at the highest level. For nurses' satisfaction, it was found that the overall satisfaction level increased from a high level (3.64) to the highest level (4.62). When considering each aspect, all aspects were at the highest level, with communication having the highest mean score (4.66), followed by supervision, colleagues, job characteristics, and working conditions (4.64, 4.62, 4.59, and 4.58, respectively). When testing the difference in mean satisfaction scores before and after using the paired t-test, it was found that both overall and, in each aspect, there were statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level, indicating that the primary nursing system helped increase job satisfaction among nurses and satisfaction among service recipients.
