Abstract

This quasi-experimental study employed a one-group pretest–posttest design to examine the effects of a health promotion program on the health behaviors of people living with HIV/AIDS attending the HIV clinic at Sichiangmai Hospital. A purposive sample of 33 participants who met the predetermined inclusion criteria was recruited for the study. The participants received the health promotion program developed by the researchers. Data were collected using a structured interview questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, were used to summarize the data. Differences in health behavior scores before and after participation in the program were analyzed using the paired-samples t-test, with the level of statistical significance set at .05.

The findings revealed that, following participation in the health promotion program, the participants demonstrated significantly improved health behaviors in the domains of nutrition, interpersonal relationships, health responsibility during antiretroviral therapy, stress management, and physical activity and exercise compared with their pre-intervention scores         (p < .05). However, no statistically significant difference was observed in the domain of spiritual growth. These findings suggest that the health promotion program effectively enhances positive health behaviors among people living with HIV/AIDS, thereby contributing to improved physical health, reducing the risk of opportunistic infections, and supporting effective suppression of viral replication. The program may therefore serve as an effective intervention to promote long-term health outcomes and improve the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS.
