The effect of an education program on basic ophthalmic care for general practitioners working in Kantharalak Hospital, Sisaket Province and network hospitals

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to compare knowledge of primary ophthalmic care and satisfaction before and after receiving the educational program. of general practitioners working in Kantharalak Hospital Sisaket Province and community hospital network, The samples were general practitioners working in Kantharalak Hospital. Sisaket Province and network community hospitals, 35 people. Conducted research during February 14 - April 22, 2023. The data collection tools were the knowledge level test in primary care of ophthalmic patients. and a satisfaction test for the educational program Which has been verified for content straightness by 5 experts, collecting data through online channels Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including percentage, mean, and standard deviation. and the inferential statistics were Paired t-test, the level of statistical significance was set at .05..

            The study found that the average score of knowledge about basic ophthalmic care among general practitioners before entering the program was 10.66, while after completing the program,        it significantly increased to 16.97. The 95 percent confidence interval was 4.94 to 7.69. Additionally, the results showed high overall satisfaction with the education program, with an average rating of 4.38.

            Based on these findings, the researchers recommend implementing this educational program in other hospitals across the country to improve general practitioners' knowledge and confidence in caring for ophthalmic patients. However, this research is limited by the purposive sampling, and in the future, random research may be required to gain more confidence in the program.
