Abstract

Background: Accurately determining patient complexity and guaranteeing effective use of healthcare resources depend on an understanding of the variables influencing the CMI value in discharged patients. In the end, this study improves patient outcomes and cost-effectiveness by informing quality improvement initiatives and focused intervention tactics.

Objective: This study the objective is to study factors affecting the Case Mix Index (CMI) values of patients discharged at Vachira Phuket Hospital in fiscal year 2023 and to find guidelines for developing data recording in inpatient medical records at Vachira Phuket Hospital.

Methodology: The population used for the study was 40,359 patients discharged in fiscal year 2023, purposively sampled from January 2023 to March 2023.

Results: The results found that evaluating the accuracy of a doctor's summary of disease diagnosis and procedures. It was found to be at the highest level. The average was 4.18. Summary of recording of procedures with the highest perfection Next is a summary of the main diagnosis. And summarize the secondary diagnosis The mean values were 4.78, 4.07, and 3.70, respectively. Factors that increased the Case Mix Index (CMI) included the patient's age. Day of hospital stay Department where the patient receives treatment There are suggestions to make the data recording campaign more complete. Organize activities to review details of secondary diagnoses. Including using technology to help diagnose disease easily and conveniently in recording data. Support materials and equipment to help record data in the medical ward. And should study comparisons between hospitals.

Conclusion: The study demonstrates that doctors' summaries are very accurate and emphasizes how the Case Mix Index is impacted by variables such as hospital stay and patient age. The necessity of better data recording and technological utilization in healthcare is also emphasized. For just a few seconds. Doctors' summaries show excellent procedure recording and good diagnostic and procedural accuracy. The Case Mix Index is significantly impacted by patient age, length of hospital stays, and treatment department, underscoring the need for better, technologically assisted data collection.
